Considering a trade on a mixed Ludwig Last viewed: 3 seconds ago

Hey guys I am considering trading a modern kit of mine for this kit:

http://gregsdrumshop.com/vintage-drums/1960-Ludwig-WMP/ludwig-1960-wmp.htm

If anyone buys it after posting it I guess its win-win for the seller. Anyway I would still consider the value at near what he is asking for it. The value of the kit I am trading (modern made in Germany Sonor) is equal based on what he is selling it for. I can easily get more Sonor kits and have some in the works anyway.

Thoughts?

Looks way nice. I'm not sure about a 13 tom on a 20 bass drum though!lol.

Although it looks good in the pic..

That's a beautiful kit. I would do that trade if I were in your shoes. Like you said, there's plenty of modern Sonors out there.

I was playing my 50's 13 WFL tom (mahogany int., like that one) over a 60's Ludwig 20 bass while I was fixing up the 22 and it sounded excellent. When you see them in person just make sure you can get a nice tuning separation between the 13 and 14.

I hear ya...really nice kit, but a 13" rack on a 20" bd doesn't work for me, either.

Beautiful looking kit! I believe the seller may have posted these on VDF recently.

My Gretsch Name Band kit has that setup and it works fine. I am most concerned with 13" rack to 14" floor. I would likely get a 12" to match downbeat sizes if I get the kit.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I wouldn't think twice about these "not matching" – they're more than close enough (besides the snare). I have a Ludwig kit that was bought together with a granitone bass and rack tom, a natural maple floor tom, and a natural mahogany floor tom (the last of which had no serial number). All were bought sitting in the store together in '76, straight from the Ludwig factory.
