Ludwig Amber Vistalite Bonham Size Value Last viewed: 15 minutes ago

I have a set of Ludwig Amber Vistalites that I bought in I think it was

1975---blue and olive badges----24" Bass, 13" & 14" mounted toms,

18" floor tom, excellent condition---I have read that these drums because of their Bonham size and amber color are most rare of the original Vistalites. Is this true and what would be their value today?

I'm not a Ludwig expert, but I've been hanging around here long enough to know that Bonham sizes are 14 (later 15) tom, 16 FT, 18 FT, and 26 bass. I'm pretty sure that green Vistalite is the rarest.

I'm sure one of the Ludwig specialists will weigh in on values.

If it was a 26" bass drum you would have a home run on your hands, the 24" still isn't bad but not a Bonham kit.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

The 18 Floor Tom is a nice find though, its a desirable size. Depending on condition you could probably get up to 400 for that drum alone.

I bought my Vistalite kit back in the late 80s and I think the prior owner was aiming for a Bonham-like sound even though he didn't have the 26" bass - 24" bass, 13" and 14" mounted toms and 2 18" floor tom. It also came with 15" and 16" mounted concert toms.

+1 to Bizz!

Allow me "bet" a little more, nowadays, a 18" Amber Floor Tom, S/n1.xxx.xxx Pointy Corner B/O Badge, could easily reach the 4 bills and more (of course, as was said, with no cracks, "spider webs", etc.)

Regards!

Ludwig '67 Classic B.D.P.
Ludwig '79 Classic Pro-beat
C. A. F. '72 New Sonic "The Argentinean Ludwig"
A bunch of Ludwig snares..... + Dyna & P.Tone.

and always trying to recover some orphan drums!!

Yep especially an amber. Too put it in perspective I had a chance to buy a blue 18 for 350 and couldn't financially swing it at that time. I was bummed because I figured I would never find one at that price again. Needless to say when someone sent me an ebay link to one for 250 on a BIN took me about 2 seconds hit that button:)

that "someone" was me. Glad you like it...if I wasn't packed to the ceiling I would have ate that one myself and of course NOW I wish I had. But I figured it should go to someone connected rather than anyone else....but still I don't understand why it just sat there and no buyers? Times are for sure very strange. Ebay for real is for buyers, definitely not sellers.

Thank you for that Gary:) That drum put this set over the top IMO.

My employment situation took a turn for the worse last week. I was actually afraid I was going to have to sell my Vistas and I was pretty bummed. Thankfully it looks like things have turned around already and I'll be able to keep them. I love this freaking kit:)
