It's my birthday this weekend so I asked to go to the Chicago drum show. Is it worth going? I want to find some pieces I need. Is there a place to trade or buy parts? Are any of you guys going?

If you can get your parents to take you then by all means, yes, go go go. What a great place to pick out a birthday present. And by the way, Happy birthday. It is a wonderful show, you will love it!

Lots of us are going.
Oh, and yes, there will be parts for sale from a few different vendors. But just look around and ask about them, its a ton of vintage drum collectors, restorers and enthusiast all under one roof. GO!
Whether you go or not, have a very happy birthday, Julia!
If you do go, let your dad hold your money! There's so much stuff to see and to buy that you'll be tempted to spend it all in an hour! :p

yes, lots of vendors are selling probably 90% sell new and used. Even Manufactures like Ludwig, Taye and Pearl are they selling limited 1 off snare drums and discounted drums and hardware. Lots of used drums, you'll walk around the show dozens of times and find something new each time you walk around. The earlier you get there the better. Saturday morning is the best time to get there as that's when the most gear is there. By Sunday most of the good stuff is gone, but by Sunday afternoon you can get many good deals on gear that is left and hasn't sold.
Happy B-day…
Do your research on pricing before you go.
I think we're going to go. It's not too far of a drive. I have a lot of extra stuff I'm going to bring with me so hopefully I can trade some of it for the things on my wish list! I guess what I bring depends on how many sets and stuff I can cram in my mom or dad's car!

Packing a bunch of stuff into a small space (getting ten pounds of baloney into a two pound bag,) is a skill every drummer learns along the way. You may as well start now! LOL
Have a FUN day!

It's also a skill that gets you conned into helping others move...
