I agree. The hoops on the Artist model were a triple flange "type", but not your typical modern day triple flange style.I though double flange has one bend or two angles. Like an "L". Still a stick chopper top edge. The triple flange "type" I was talking about still has the stick chopper top edge, but there are two bends or three angles on the hoop. The additional angle wraps around the flesh hoop. Here is an example:http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/other_stuff/rich_k/fulldr3.jpg-Tim

No, those are considered double flanged. Two bends in the metal. WFL was the first to use triple flanged hoops.

I see this thread never got resolved and I'm gonna add confusion. Just found this on the local flea market with a box of random hardware.

On the BDP drum just found....I would say a 20's Leedy...going by the grommet,and slotted t-rods...but strainer...I don't know....

Re Mark's green drum...the screws to hold the lugs on look like WFL or Ludwig ones I have seen...

The Green Marine is def a Art Deco color.....so I am guessing 1930's....

According to DrCJW, Slingerland offered solid 1-ply maple shells from 1934 to 1964.
http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/drcjw/article_3_shells2.html
As was originally noted, the strainer does appear to be Slingerland from 1928 to 1934.
http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/drcjw/article_5_strainers_3point-1.html
Sea Green Pearl was in the 1930-1933 Slingerland catalog.Actually, Artists has double flange hoops. Triple flange are what you see on modern drums.
http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/catalogs/slingerland/1930_slingerland_14_th.jpg
Sea Green Pearl was not in the 1940 Slingerland catalog.
http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/finishes/slingerland/1940_slingerland_thumb.jpg
The 1936 catalog shows the "top of the line" drums using the new cast lugs and not tube lugs. The hoops are "L-shaped" or double flange, which were offered on the Defiance Snare seen here:
http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/catalogs/slingerland/1930_slingerland_4_th.jpg
Based on the catalog pictures and descriptions, The Artist had a Triple flange type hoop that extends over the flesh hoop. In 1936, the Professional models were not available in Pearl finishes, but they did use double flange hoops.Based on the shell being 1-ply maple with maple re-rings, the strainer style and the wrap color ... I would say this is between 1933 and 1935. That's if it is even a Slingerland. :DThe vent hole just above the butt-end, the original bake-lite grommet, flat-sided balls on the lugs and no badge are still a mystery. Please correct me if any of my research is incorrect.-Tim

Actually, Artist models of the 1920's and 30's had double flange hoops. Triple flange are what you see on modern drums.

My throw off looks different. Maybe there is missing piece.

Other than that it looks the same. I have a matching bass

Drum also . I'd really like to know the brand.

Looks nearly identical to mine. Even the flat ends on the tube lugs. Your drum is just missing the original throw-off arm and the knob that holds it on. So now there are TWO green mystery drums!DOH

Here is a picture of the drum showing the vent hole. I don't remember if it is metal or bakelite, but it looks like it could be bakelite.

Once we figure out what these things are I can start looking for the missing strainer arm and the other bits.

Think I've nailed it...

Carlton 1935/36 Catalogue, although mine is hand dated 1940 on the underside of both heads.

The 'Green' is listed as "Greenwood Pearl" and mine is either "Silver Butterfly Wing" or "Black Pearl".

The box of hardwear that came with my snare has all the supporting Console and Trap fixings and the original snare stand, cowbell, woodblock and kitchen sink.

Hope this answers the original Mystery Green Snare question once and for all.
