White Vistalite snare drums Last viewed: 38 minutes ago

Hi.

I have a 70's White Vistalite kit and am looking around for a matching snare (for no good reason really). I have looked in catalogs on teh vintage drums website, but can't see any white colors listed.

Did Ludwig make them?

Interesting was on the Ludwig Vistalite Wiki page, it states that Ludwig over ordered on white shells, and had too many of them, suggesting that they are common?

Cheers

There's one in my local Mom and Pop music store. I can find out what they want for it. PM me if you are interested.

If a manufacturer orders or makes 100 shells in a certain color or size, and sells only 20 of them, that is an over-ordering example. In the 1950's, 1960's, and early 1970's, when Gretsch or Rogers or occasionaly Ludwig did that, those excess inventory shells would find their way to Walberg & Auge in trades for the hardware made for those companies by W&A. I have owned a few of these over-runs that became great Walberg drum sets.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Just curious, from my experience with Vista-Lite snares...is your white snare an 8 lugger?

I think I know the shop Greg, B.... Music? There's a better specimen at Jammin Jersey for $300, and they also won't discount!

So to answer the question, yes, they're out there - at least two 5x14s within striking distance in L.A.

Jamie Jersey have lots of biddies, but are impossible for me to contact as they don't use email. I can't phone from Australia. Still I do look at their site and get envious :-)

Yes Jon, that's the place. The owner Ruth has been really nice to me, as I've been educating her on Blaemires and J-M drums. She's really intrigued by them. ;-)
