Super Clean Majestic! Calling Ralf!! Last viewed: 9 hours ago

So I wasn't going to buy anything for awhile but saw these on CL and had to at least go see them. asking price was 150. and it included "vintage" Meinl cymbal and hats. Went to see them and they were Super clean! The pics are right out of my car and in my house. Haven't touched them except to set up. The floor tom is among the missing (the're like socks! Where do they go????) The cymbals aren't what I thought, the're "Meinl Ambico" (Camber)?? But believe it or not they sound awesome? Don't get it!! Also, is this the elusive triangle cymbal mount? So back to the story. We settle on 125. and as we're breaking it down the guy says "let me get the cases" and he brings out 3 brand new lined cases!! included in the 150.!!! These are the "no re-ring" grey interior painted, nice bearing edge Stars / Majestic. All drums have the original "Sound Master" heads top and bottom. Any info on the cymbals and cymbal mount is appreciated. Rich.

Meant to put this in "non U.S." does anyone know how to move it?

WOW! Those a beautiful! Time capsule!

Yeah that is the ever so elusive triangle Star cymbal mount. As far as I know it has to be perhaps the most elusive and rare MIJ part there is. I know there are some out there, but I have seen many many more kits with this missing than not.

As far as the missing FT - the explanation is likely as simple as....there never was one. It was not uncommon for MIJ stencil kits to not include these. I know - strange. That's just the way it is. The good news - is that yours may be a bit easier to find/build as you can easily re-wrap it to match. This is not always the case as we all know.

I restored one and it also had the original 8-lug wood snare. You get that tuned up right and it sounds killer.

I have some of those Sound Master heads too - lightly used. Not sure how I will use them. Those are the original heads I understand.

Great deal - with the cases too! Killer pedals and HH stand too! The whole package - love the flat based hardware too! I have a collection / set of these as well and they really look sharp on a vintage kit like these.

Enjoy! We will be on the lookout for a FT.

....and I am sure Ralf will want a copy of this pic for his website. It is very good reference - I know I have seen something helpful to me.

I've read that these Meinl-Ambico/Cambers have a unique sound - thus if somebody wanted to get into them - they would be best served acquiring an entire set of them. Are these Nickel-Silver?

Do you have plans to try to acquire/build a FT? What are the sizes of these?

12/20/14 is correct. As far as the make up of the cymbals, I'm not sure. The hats couldn't sound better! The ride surprisingly has a nice jazz sound.

Nice find!

Great looking drums!

One thing about finding a matching FT -- if/when you find ANY Majestic FT, it would be easy to match the plain black wrap!

He knows me well: surely I'd love to have a pic of it for reference onto my website (please) ...

I just spoke with Meinl directly concerning your cymbals: back in those days Meinl exported three line of cymbals only: brass, nickel silver and B8 (bronze). You can see the differences easily, if you polish your cymbals: brass becomes yellow/ish, nickel silver is greyish-silver and B8 looks like we all know it.

The stamp on your cymbal/s may have been a distributor's order from the USA, it's not a special cymbal line of Meinl.
