I posted a few days ago about a really nice 4-piece Ludwig set at Guitar Center near me, and it looked so good in person I had to question to myself if it were all original, because it was a pristine keystone kit. It was stated to be a 1967 Gold Sparkle, and priced at $1200 so while not cheap, also somewhat below what the market is setting these kits at in really nice condition. I was in the store tonight to grab a pair of sticks and showing my wife the kit to use as an example of what I was looking for, and she bought it for me....

So... I did my best to inspect while at the store, had them remove the heads so I can check out the interiors and the wrap because it did look way too clean to be an original wrap, but the keystone badges didn't look to be tampered with. I asked what the original owner traded it in for, and he said he knows the owner (which I won't publicize here, but if I need to know any details I'm sure I could contact him. He may even be a member here, don't know). The wrap does go into the ply, so it would seem original. The interiors were very clean, but nowhere could I find a date stamp, so I'm not sure how it was decided it was a '67, and the only answer to that I got was the original owner said it was. So, being that I can "sort-of" match it up with the 1967 Hollywood kit in the catalog with color and everything, that it what I'll assume it is. Here are some "just brought it in the house" pics:
