I'm inclined to agree with you. It wouldn't take much of a knock to cause a dent. Drums+gigs+beer can easily add up to damage.

FFR428 - this one's for sale. If it doesn't sell then I'll happily hold onto it. At least I can say I tried to sell it. I have had a long shelf put up in my drum room and I didn't think I'd fill it - it's now overflowingDOH

I guess you would need to assess the kits overall condition and see if it is worth it to buy all those beavertail lugs.

On the dent thing pounding out larger dents can be done by or started by using a bag of sand,make an impression with the correctly rounded part of the shell and go from there.

Don't know your exp with Dynas,but when set up and tuned well can be really nice,and rimshots are as loud and cutting as any drum I have ever played.

I am thinking that you could get a pretty penny for a 6.5 in your location if you indeed sell it.

I had a dyna,and it came back nicely,they usually do,but yours came back really great,what did you do to get rid of the pitting?

Thanks for the tip with the dents. I may just give it a go. I'm a bit concerned about stuffing it up but it doesn't seem too hard.

The kit is in good shape except for the obvious mount issue and the missing front hoop and Ts. Lugs seem to be reasonably easy to come by on ebay but I could also use the lugs from the 14" and just have it as a one up config. I'll decide when my buddy has fixed up the BD.

The Dyna was surprisingly easy to clean. It was mainly dirt and very little pitting. It just needed some love. The great thing was everything was there, right down to the original tension rod washers (which i often find are missing on old snares). I have yet to set it up properly but i have turned the bottom hoop and frame through 180 degrees so it now looks right (I had it the wrong way around in the photos). I'll have a crack at getting a good crack out of it later today.

Thanks Mike. Yes it was more a clean than a restoration. I played it yesterday with the band and I'm thinking it may have to stay in the collection. A really nice drum.

Just a note the tom mount arm is backwards. The end with the ball goes in the bass mount.

I've also gently pounded out a dent in a Dyna-Sonic shell behind the throwoff and it was easier than I was expecting and looks great.
