Great tip Dolfan and thanks for those great pictures Sling.I did remove one of the tom-mounts and they're indeed 6/6ply.By the way,... that replica 7X10" is also on its way across the pond. The shipment also includes the DW STM mounts,... can't wait.Yesterday I picked up a 16" floor tom for a few Euro's. Clearly a re-wrapped MIJ shell but it has 16 shiny retro-fitted turret lugs. I'm considering a 14"X14 replica but I'd probably not go as far by putting a cloud badge on it though.I have too much love and respect for GW and the original I guess.

Ryan is installing a replica camco cloud badge on the 7x10" and a printed tag glued to the interior that reads REPLICA, his name and the date made. All the restored drum shells are getting RESTORED tags permanently glued or lacquered to the interiors along with the other information. I really think that when a vintage drum gets rewrapped, restored or reworked in any way from the original condition, it should be marked accordingly.

Bravo Ryan! Excellent idea!

Why do some of you insist on calling these drums 'Camco's'? Several of you do it and it drives me nuts. It's Camcos. No apostrophe. Just like Ludwigs or Slingerlands.

I probably made that mistake many times but being Dutch native speaker I had no idea. "Camcos" just doesn't look right to me,... I'll call them Camco drums in the future,...

What Ryan is doing, for sure is the right thing to do, especially on that 10" shell but I don't think a lot of people will go that far by tagging every re-wrapped, refinished or re-cut shell.

You have an excuse being Dutch or Belgian, but you learned it from a poor English writer. No English word with an 's' to indicate plurality has an apostrophe.

All is forgiven, my son.

Stephen! I'm putting you up for election as GRAMMAR POPE! No disrespect meant in the least. Grammar and spelling have always meant a lot to me. Now I find I have the same problem since it's been so long since I had to actually write something. Keep it up! We'll get you a nice hat with a 'G' emblazoned on the front. This way, we'll all know that you sir, are indeed the keeper of the holy duo - grammar and spelling.

Huzzah for Stephen!

Hardly, I'm lost without spell check. More curious as to why people have singled-out Camco for the apostrophe. Why not 'Radio King's' or 'Vistalite's'? As stedi put it, maybe Camcos just doesn't look right.

Strange.

Not Ryans idea, and I had to pay extra for it, I really thought I was asking too much but he designed them with a vintage flair and had them made for permanent installation.

My concern is after I am gone since I am just a steward to them. I don't want someone holding up one of the 10" toms that Precision Drum Co. made 3/16" smaller than standard and proclaiming it to be a Camco. Also since the drums all have clear interiors and are wrapped I didn't want someone saying they came from the factory that way 30 years from now. These drums are very special to me and most of the toms have been culled. Adding tags with Ryans work and dates done may be a small or insignificant thing to some, but very important to me.

Stephen, never had much of English lessons in school I'm afraid as French is the official second language over here. My mistakes come from working at an international American Company (hp) where English is the only workable common language. Probably 90% of my colleagues are non English native speakers and even the 10% of English native speakers make tons of mistakes. You would have your hands more than full over here,...

To overcome, spell checkers are used a lot. I remember an Israeli colleague writing an important report where 3 times the word "evidence" was replaced by "heavy dance",... we laughed for days !

Ok,.. let's talk drums again.

'75-'76? More complete and total B.S.!!!! Camco L A era came out with their one and only catalog in 1975 (Printed right at the bottom of each one) The sale of Camco didn't even take place until the end of 1977, it would have been virtually impossible for a company to contract pedal plate designs in that short of time...

According to the DW timeline on their website, they (DW) bought the rights to the pedal in 1977 and reintroduced the 5000 pedal (the catalog number in the Camco catalog). It's listed as 1978 as the start of production of drums.

Speaking of catalogs, when did the first Camco catalog come out?

1957 George Way BDP 26" concert bass drum
1959 George Way BDP 22/12/16 w/ 5.5x14
1959 George Way Green Sparkle 22/12/16 w/5.5x14
1961 George Way Blue Sparkle 20/12/15
1961 George Way Jelly Bean 20/12/14 w/4.5x14
1960’s Camco Oaklawn Champagne 20/12/14/16w/5x14
1971-73 Camco Chanute Walnut 24/14/18 w/5x14 COB
