Wow Jeff what a great present~! How does it sound? Very cool snare buddy. What are those snares called in the catalog? I always thought they were cool with the sideways dual tension lugs. Unique design, beautiful WMP and BB muffler too. Sweet drum. Great daughter you have there!! Merry Christmas!

Glenn.

Glenn, in the 1962 catalog its called a "Downbeat" Has a "Pioneer" throw off , 8- lugs and was perfect for the taveling artist where space is a poblem.

I think I have seen these called picolo drums also. Mine is a 3x14" model. They also made a "jazz-combo" model that was 3x13, six lugs.

Mine is WMP

Thank you everyone!

Jeff:

Great looking drum. Thanks for sharing the great story as well as the pics. As far as I'm aware, Ludwig made several models of "piccolo" snares. Among them was the 3x13 Jazz Combo, the 4x13 Las Vegas, the 5x13 Super Porto-Pak and the 4x14 Downbeat. However, I've never seen a 3x14 model. Are you sure that your measurements are correct? Just wondering.

Jeff, that will display nicely on a stand between the Slingy kit and the Pearl. By the way, Thanks for the tour of your drums. Had a great time meeting you. Bobby

Bobby, it was fun meeting you also. Thanks so much for the remo practice pads, I have already used them. I have it sitting right next to my desk in the office.

OldSchool, my mistake. The drum is 4"x 14".

Thanks all for following the thread!

Merry Christmas to all!
