This insane bidding is obviously disingenuous. Anyone who knows the value of a wood Dyna also knows the existence and risk of forgeries and clones. Without being able to examine the r-rings, bearing edges, and the interior of the maple shell (the only component that adds $2000 to the value of a Dyna), pushing the bidding price into the stratosphere is incredibly irresponsible. And that highly suspect grommet would raise a red flag to any serious collector. It's obvious that this badge has been re-installed (crudely) onto this shell. Why did this shell need a badge installed? And why would anyone donate a rare, highly valuable snare to Goodwill? This is all just too suspicious.

A WMP wood Dyna is my personal Holy Grail of snares, but when I finally find one, I'm going to be damn sure it's the real thing before I shell out $2000!

I see the auction ended without any further bids. No surprise there. I do think the high bidder was a shill bidder and we'll see the drum relisted as John said. Or someone spent crazy money on a WMP Dyna that still needs more $$$ to bring it back. Guess we'll see? ;)
