I have a very cheap violin bow that works great. You can get similar tones by wolding a stick perpendicular to the surface of the cymbal and moving lightly around with enough pressure to create friction.
Good cello bow for bowing cymbals? Last viewed: 1 hour ago
I have one and had some amazing results.
Its kind of been said, but best one is probably the cheapest one you can find. Maybe a student model.

Me neither! But, cool! Check out this guy who bows a cymbal resting on a tympani! This is a new one on me and other than for my own entertainment, I'd have no practical application for it in the music I play. But man, the sounds are seriously cool.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQiXsMY4S20John
We did a lot of that sort if thing in perc ensemble in college. Soft mallets on the cymbal as mentioned was also something we did. Another cool effect is holding a triangle with the base on the timpani head and then playing it while actuating the pedal. Kind of a surrealistic water drop. Cool stuff!

Find a luthier or stringed instrument shop, near to you and ask about derelict bows in his/her possession. Most well appointed premises will have bucket loads of them, that no one really wants to use . Bows for serious string musicians can cost almost as much as the instrument----especially large bows. They should let a crapper go for a song. I recommend something like , How Much is that Doggie in the Window or something in a narrow register by David Bowie, that you can handle. When you are done , don't forget to take a bow. That should seal the deal.

Snapping a large spring clamp on your testicles will help you to hit the high notes...
