Are there any engraved Ludwig on the hoops or to the right of the strainer under what looks like a home paint job ? From 1914, to the 23 cats. the Ludwig All Metal did not have any engraved name and it came in brass !!

23 on, had some kind of engraved trade mark !!

Close up,..close up, it`s not gonna bite !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

No sadly, cannot find any engraving or markings on the drum. Underneath the enamel (i scraped a bit off) there is no finish either, leaving me to believe either it had been utterly stripped of its finish or this is the "fancy finish" white enamel coating they gave on there drums during the 20s. Strangely however it always stated that it was not available on the pioneer, thus why I am so suspicious.

What OddBall said, I hope it is all brass/NOB!

That`s OK,..that means it`s prolly from the late teens when no badge or engraved TM were on them !! The hand prints inside are why suspect aftermarket paint job !!

just showed it to my local drum expert and he said it is a ludwig seamless brass shell most likely orchestral model from his catalogs. Going to stick it on the bay so some lucky brit can have it as we very rarely get vintage luddys over here, and we can actually make some money out of it. Lucky americans having them so cheap.... makes me want to live out there.... Anyhow thanks for help guys, if anyone figures out what exactly it is i will be greatly appreciative so i can edit ebay post for better description. Thanks everyone!

It could be a two piece shell, the one I have is so well done that you can hardly see the weld! Also the trade mark might be to the left of the strainer, that's where it is on mine. If it was an owner done paint job you would not be able to see the trademark. Try and take better pics of the inside. Also what is the exchange rate for dollars to pounds? I don't think you did that bad!!

The exchange rate changes daily. The advantage I have is ludwig sell for a lot more over here, especially vintage, compared to you very lucky americans, so i may be able to get what I want for it. I will post it with the info I was given by my local drum store about it. Fingers crossed guys and still thanks for the help. And yes I wish it was a 2 piece shell but I really do not see any seam or engravings :/

That is not the heavy,2 piece shell...

Maybe a Universal or Pioneer.....
