Synare drum synths are worth a ton if they are in good working condition (most are not these days). I think its more of a nostalgia trip than anything else, since these things are pretty limited in the types of sounds they make. Think bad 70's sci-fi tv show soundtracks, and you are in the ballpark as to what these things are capable of sound-wise.

Because they're analog synthesizers, basically... and those are even more sought-after and hyped than drums. I saw the auction when it was around 300.00 and I knew it was going to get high..

Kits:
1966 Ludwig Hollywood Gold Sparkle Pearl 12/13/16/22
Star 3pc in Red Glass Glitter (1960's)
Snares:
1959 Ludwig Pioneer Mahogany
60's Ludwig Pioneer Gold Sparkle
60's Ludwig Acrolite (Keystone)
Ludwig/Custom 6.5x14
1960's Bolero (MIJ)

Hi Mike! How ya been?

tubmyk2 is right; it's the analog thing. Old '70s analog synth stuff is going for tons -o- bucks nowadays...

IMHO: it's like the Edsel... the stuff is so ugly, it's cute! Kinda like me. flowers2

I have one and I can't fgure out why they sell for that amount. When mine was in working condition(before the acid from the batteries destroyed all the internals) it was not that impressive, now it just looks like a little spaceship.

70's Ludwig Blue Sparkle 12/13/16/18/22
70's Ludwig Natural Maple 12/13/16/18/22
65 Ludwig Silver Sparkle 13/16/20
70's Ludwig Walnut Cortex 12/13/16/22
Snares; 60's Acrolite/70's Acrolite/70's Black Beauty/
70's Natural Maple

Holy Crap!! I've got one of these!! Mine says S3X on the side. I tried, but I could not get mine to operate. Does anyone out there have a set of

I've seen demonstrations of these on youtube. Help anyone??
