I have my 1929 Ludwig BB Super in mine. Fits no problem but the strainer does need to run diagonally from one corner to the other.

Thanks DolFan54! I didn't want to risk driving 6 hours round trip to the nearest IKEA only to find out my Super wouldn't fit! I figured if I could patient enough someone with a Super would chime in and confirm this. I have a '65 6.5" COB Super that deserves to be on display when not in use. Thanks again!

DZIĘKUJĘ!!! :) Now that I had joined the forum, I have no choice but to start looking for some truly vintage snare, since the oldest one I have is the 1989 Tama (2nd from bottom in the display cabinet photo) - not very vintage... Everything else is rather new, or built by me. But I always wanted a one-piece Slingerland in marine pearl :-)

Oldschool, where did you get those cases? I'm going to make the 3 hr drive soon to Ikea.

Here is an idea that I currently use to keep the drums quiet. Go to a craft store and get some of the wooden round discs that they sell. They are usually around 12 inches in diameter and an inch thick. They get some of the foam cabinet/ tool box liner. Cut to size and glue to disc. Set drum on disc. Lifts it off glass and keeps it quiet!!

That will stretch/detune the bottom head, I'm afraid... My system with the Ikea seat cushions, although maybe not very pretty, muffles the heads and snares, but lets most of the drum's weight rest on the bottom hoops, as it's supposed to...

I wonder if these 14" x 1" styrofoam discs might work to raise the drum off the glass and stop the wires from buzzing?

It looks like these would work, except again the entire drum weight will rest on the bottom head - I wouldn't recommend it...
