Stand organizer?

Over the years I have purchased many vintage drum kits. Most of them come with stands and cymbals. Now I have a delima. I cant hardly keep up with all these stands. Right now I have them stored in several different drum hardware cases and a really big pile stacked in a shopping basket.

I devised a pretty good cymbal rack. How do Y'all store your stands??

I have a 14X24' barn in the back yard and a 10x10 shed. I could put em all out in the shed I guess. That would sure clear out a lot of space in the garage and I can see what all stands I have.

I can sell some, but if I ever sell a kit, they usually need stands. I need some longer tabels just to sort through the mess!! Help2

Although I have three kits, I use the same set of Yamaha hardware with each of them, along with a Slingerland Dynamo HH stand.

I do have enough spares to mount some extra cymbals when there's an outdoor gig with a big stage (like today). I acquire extras every now and then when someone sells Yamaha gear cheap on Craigslist.

I recently moved into a place with a garage, so it's nice to have them out of sight, out of mind. I lean my gamers against the wall; the spares reside in a huge Yamaha rolling equipment bag.

How about something using lengths of thin wall PVC pipe? Depending on your floor space you could run tubes horizontally and stack them vertically or vice versa. Then each stand would slide into a corresponding tube. The stands would not tangle and would not mar each other. They would be extremely easy to get to. My guess is the most stands would fit in 4" tubing. Hi-hat stands would require more space like a 6". You would have to check sizes as I am just guessing. A frame could be fashioned from metal or wood.

Every audio company on the planet transports their mic stands this way.

That's the best idea I ever heard!! I went and got 6- 10' x 4" pvc. 4 thick and 2 thin. Cut them into 30" sections and got 24 tubes. The cymbal stanbds slid right in except the bottom wing nut sticks out to far. I'm gonna have to remove the bottom wing nuts to do this. I'll zip tie the wing nut to the stand. I can stack these any way I want. I dont know why I didnt think of this. We store roll of vinyl and fabric at my shop with 12" tubes. LoLoLoLo
