Slingerland Drum ID?

Loading...

That snare in the Lidertyville photo has a slapshot strainer,so that makes it 80's vintage,so the floor tom would have to be from the same vintage if it was paired with that kit.So it would be a 5 ply,if that were true. But the serial number makes it mid to late 70's.The plot thickens

I bet Ron Barron at multiple sets with his name badge installed. The mounted tom in the photo doesn't have Slingerland lugs.

Lugs look correct to me.

I've seen that there was a style of slingerland set called the "Jet" that came with Chrome bass drum hoops but the sizes didn't seem to match up. Any way of telling what type of wood these things are made of? something I should look for?As for the floor tom badge, I have absolutely no idea. It's hard to make out and I've tried hitting up google but can't find anything on it. The rims on your bass drum are definately aftermarket and non original. The rims you refer to on the Jet kit are Slingerland stick saver rims(hoops),triple flange, with an inward roundover, just like the rims on the rest of your kit.

Your kit is none the less beautiful, but what we call an orphan kit and as such...a players kit.As has been said though,I would be stoked to play your drums.Excited

Thanks for all of the input! You guys are great!

I've been reading through the site and have made a shopping list of the cleaning/polishing products I'll need, but I was wondering if anyone has a favorite online retailer for parts?

As I start to tear these things down, I'm just wondering if there are any recommendations for places to pick up things I might need.

Off hand I know I'm going to need a few new bass drum claws and tension rods (there are a few mix/matched ones on the batter side) and I would like to see what my options are for bass drum rims that look like they would have come with the kit (I believe it would have been the black hoop with the chrome stripe).

Thoughts?

I'm really stoked to get this thing sparkling!

You can start right here.Check the for sale section for some of the best prices and parts available. If you can't find what you need here, there are plenty of parts sold on Ebay every day.Do comparison shopping,as prices vary wildly, and be careful about originality and condition.

Lastly, don't be afraid to ask questions.
