Slingerland Drum ID? Last viewed: 3 minutes ago

Loading...

I posted all of this in an introduction thread but wasn't sure how many folks may see it.

I just bought this yesterday and was looking for as much info on it as I can get. Anything helps! Thanks!

About The Drums:

1960-70-80?s? Slingerland White Marine Pearl

All have Niles Badges, black oval with chrome lettering

All wood (And they are HEAVY!)

8x12 Tom - Serial # 170378

14x14 Floor - Serial # 365888

12x22 Bass Drum - Serial # 380973

5(5.5?)x14 Snare (Wood) - Serial # 78161

All have natural wood interior

All have Chrome hoops (Even the Bass Drum??)

And that's about it. Any info on the possible year? I know that Slingerland made it hard to exactly date, but a close range would be nice.

Is it a specific "Model"?

What's up with the Chrome Bass Drum Hoops?

It's in really good shape and I'm going to do my best to get it back to its original shine (will definitely be using this forum for restoration and cleaning tips). I'll be sure to take a ton of before and after pics.

Thanks folks!

I'd be proud to gig with that Slingerland kit even if the hoops are unoriginal.I'm curious about that secondary badge on the floor tom.

1970s era. I was also curious about the secondary badge on the FT.

I've seen that there was a style of slingerland set called the "Jet" that came with Chrome bass drum hoops but the sizes didn't seem to match up.

Any way of telling what type of wood these things are made of? something I should look for?

As for the floor tom badge, I have absolutely no idea. It's hard to make out and I've tried hitting up google but can't find anything on it.

Roy Burns Drumkit!

I thought the same thing but a second look seemed like Ron Baron to me.

I dunno, it'd be cool if it was Roy Burns.

I think it is Ron Baron also. Wasnt Roy Burns with Rogers at that time? Very nice kit.

Does that badge on the snare look familiar? :-) Is that your snare?

Wow, that's the badge! That's awesome! I guess the kit was sold in pieces? I only have that badge on my floor tom.

Interesting.
