Drum Rewraps...give me the scoop! Is it worth it? Last viewed: 8 hours ago

From Fuse

I don't mean to sound disingenuous here, but why not save the cash you're planning on dropping on a overpriced set of COW drums you don't really want and just looking around for the green sparkle set you really do want? As someone already pointed out, the sizes you want are fairly common, and as far as I know, green sparkle isn't a particularly rare wrap. Seems like that would be a lot cheaper and a lot less of a hassle than rewrapping. And you would avoid the bad mojo, which is always a plus. Walking

good call...I'll probably just be patient and keep looking for the finish I want. And I certainly don't want bad mojo...LOL!

Huge +1 to all of the above. The second paragraph expresses my philosophy verbatum.John

Ditto to the 12 power... find orphans and save money 1750 is a completly ridiculas amount of money to pay for something you have to then rewrap they should be 9 out of ten for that kind of money...

AtlantaDrumGuy: Like you I always wanted a "player's kit" in a green sparkle or green glass glitter. I eventually found some vintage Slingy orphan shells in rough shape with the respective wraps already removed by prior owners. I had the fine folks over at Precision Drum wrap them in their green glass glitter. Since I've always been a fan of natural maple hoops I purchased a pair, put several coats of stain on them, and installed them on the bass drum. I get a lot of use out of this kit since it's one of my main "playing out" kits. For the amount of cash I put into this project I'm very happy with the results. I only wish that I would have taken some before and after pics.

I've decided ultimately I'd just prefer an original green sparkle kit if I can...the search continues...but for me it must be Ludwig...it's just how I roll. Laughing H

Oh sorry, I didnt even read the description, just saw it and thought I would throw it out there. I am getting ready to spray a cheep Pearl Forum kit that I got from a customer for 50 bucks. The green sparkle looks nice and I am considering doing that or purple. This kit was painted almond with a paint roller lol. I have alot of fun spraying finishes on drums but they are always kits that are not vintage or are just beat up beyond saving. I agree with everyone above and hope you find what your looking for!

for a players kit you are really missing out on 6 ply's that kit on ebay is a nice one and you may wait for a long lonf time before finding the same kit in 3 ply and good luck on a 24 or 26 inch bass drum I have seen 1 in the last 6 years...just saying..
