Composite/fibreglass Rogers Last viewed: 1 second ago

Loading...

Hi, This is my first post so bear with me.

I have a Rogers kit in blue pearl sparkle, the badges on it seem to be from the late 60's to mid 70's and it has Rogers beavertail lugs but the bass drum spurs seem way too modern for the badge. It is made of a composite/fibreglass type of material, I can't find any decent info about this. Does anyone know what model of kit this is or has someone just put the lugs and badges on and ripped me off? Not that it cost too much and it looks great.

Cheers!

Are the shells green in color?

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

No, they're blue sparkle, they match the first kit I had 27 years ago (they were made by a company called Del Ray) so I bought them on a sentimental whim. The Rogers kit has a black inside with a fibreglass type of mesh rather than being smooth, there are no internal distinguishing marks or serial numbers.

Pics of the interior and bearing edge would help, perhaps even a close up of a lug hole with the lug removed from the drum.

Blaemires?????!

According to Jinx, Blaemire was known to use Rogers hardware on some of his kits. Man, if that's green glass under that black paint, you scored Big-Time!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that those are, Blaemires traveling incognito!

".....a black inside with a fibreglass type of mesh"

This sounds like the inside of a Fibes fiberglass shell.

Is the "fiberglass looking material in nice horizontal lines, or maybe a grid pattern... or does it have a messy chopped fiber look?

Blaermires would be the horizontal or grid....fibes wouild be the chopped or blown fiber (usually painted black).

I have seen Blaemires painted black and even white, but it was done by the owner.

Hope you can access the pictures ok, if not I'll try another way. The mesh is grid style as far as I can work out and it does look like there may be green underneath the black it shows through in some places, it doesn't look like it's paint though to me, see what you think. The bearing edges have atinge of green to them too. I've tried to take photos that answer the various questions that you guys have asked so far and have included the bass spurs.

Thanks very much for all your input so far.

Amigo... if those tubs are Blaemire's (I'll let Jinx make that call,) that kit is as rare as hen's teeth. Drumjinx will be able to assign a ballpark market value for you after he sees the photos. If you gently scrape away a bit of the black paint, you'll know immediately if you're sitting on a Blaemire kit. The mossy-green fiberglass will be unmistakable.

If it is, congrats on the score of the year! I don't care what you may have paid for them, if those drums are Blaemires, you just tripled or quadrupled your initial investment.

I am GREEN with envy! I'm dying to own a set of Blaemire drums.

Paging Jinx... your call, Jerry!
