i see both points of concern from everyone. i stopped selling on ebay long ago and do better selling on my own, so i understand that point much better.
if there were a auction on this site, do you stick to only vintage drums and parts? or do you do all things drum related?
the new owner of dfo already has drumsell.com. when he took over dfo he took away the drums for sale section of his site and required that everyone sell thru his site. i understand his idea and its logical, but everyone got upset about it so he brought it back quick. that could happen here too if the for sale section was to be taken away.
i think the idea of a drums and drum related auction site that caters to all drum forums and users only is great (atleast in the beginning then allow others not on the forums, or however someone wants to make that decision)
the reason is because most of us have delt with each other and know the players (atleast my username) and it would be like a community only site(generally speaking) were there's a built in trust factor. maybe in the beginning your allowed to sell based on how long you've been a active member of any forum. atleast in the beginning.
i'm just thinking out loud right now. built in trust from the users is something any auction site does not have. but it is a tricky thing to do because if there's a bad deal, you run the risk of losing not only sellers on the site but forum members.
