Gretsch Roundbadge Bass Drum WMP Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Sorry Fellas....I have to Disagree with you!

To my eye, that is a re-wrap from maybe 10 years ago...hence the slight difference from under the hoop part to the main body. Its just thats its a "not all that old rewrap".

Please tell me your reasoning that its original? Look at the hoop inlays...THATS what the body of the drum should look like if it were original , more of an ivory than a pure white.

This is a rewrap guys, I am 99.999999 sure of it!!

I'd say around $600. It's very nice. Maybe more.

Sorry to disagree with you but I'm 100% sure its factory. 10 year old wrap would not fade like that, I have a 50's wmp 14x20" gretsch bass drum and the OP and mine match almost perfectly. That wrap is 60's gretsch WMP if ever I've seen it, and Man I have, just sold a 9x13" WMP to my bud Kevins and this 22" bass drum and that tom are a perfect match. here is a pic of my 50's 20" and notice the discoloration on the edges, that's how cellulose based WMP from Gretsch fades,

looks just like mine thanks for posting the pic

pigment in color will start shifting and fading over time the pigments in finishes change do to aging nothing can really stop it, maybe a museum environment mite hold it back a little but in historic restoration that's the problem we face finding a original color and deciphering the actual pigments (aka discovery and analysis ) biggest hits are green/blue and reds, the quickest are whites they always fade out within a 3 to 5 year period look at your ceilings at home if you have a Little touch up left put a brush stroke on the same painted area and look at the difference now some newer paint technology have a real good track record nowadays but 40's to 70's forget it, now that's without the clear coats that's another story if its a wood tone the yellowing is great it warms it up but it destroys white and light blues, and the worst is the metallic if they have aluminum or silver in them they will oxidize and tarnish so that's pretty much it hope this helps...Soap Box

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Just picked up a WMP 60's Gretsch Round Badge 22x14 Bass Drum. Im pretty positive Im keeping it but just for fun id like to know the resale value? Its in great condition and is all original but the wrap is questionable maybe was re wrapped??? also the are no papertags on the inside of the shell. It has the original pratt muffler, rail mount, original front calf skin head, inside of shell is painted grey. if you need any info from me about the drum to determine its value just let me knowI Will post pics soon just need batteries for my camera?

Hence the ebay listing..........?.....DOH
