Just picked up a WMP 60's Gretsch Round Badge 22x14 Bass Drum. Im pretty positive Im keeping it but just for fun id like to know the resale value? Its in great condition and is all original but the wrap is questionable maybe was re wrapped??? also the are no papertags on the inside of the shell. It has the original pratt muffler, rail mount, original front calf skin head, inside of shell is painted grey. if you need any info from me about the drum to determine its value just let me know

I Will post pics soon just need batteries for my camera?

How can you tell if its re wrapped. I had a 80's Gretsch usa bass drum and just the hoops were faded but not the drum wrap but it wasnt a re wrap. Same deal with the round badge the hoops are faded but not the drum wrap wich points to a rewrap but how can i be sure?

It's not uncommon for the hoop inlays to fade differently from the wrap on the drum. Same thing happened with my RBs. I'm not sure why this is.

Post pics when you get your camera working and we'll give some feedback on the wrap. Be sure to get good shots of the spots where the wrap meets the edges of the drum, and of the seams where the wrap overlaps.

Heres the pics.

My judgment would say its original due to the discoloration difference when the hoops are removed but i would like your guys opinion?

I'd say it's an original wrap. My theory on the color difference between the hoop inlays and the drum (which I've seen before) is the glue used on the inlays advanced the discoloration. But I've often wondered about that myself, so if anyone has a different explanation, I'd be interested to hear it. Very nice drum by the way. Looks to be in great shape.

Yes it is the original Gretsch calfskin reso in great shape aswell.

Also has a East Detroit Drum Center stamp on the top of the head if that holds any significance IDK?

FANTASTIC drum!

Only prob...finding the rest of the drums in that shape.....

Some people like yellowed out WMP drums.......this is the finish that gets my heart a racing.

Bought a Progressive Jazz kit with 4 by 14 MR snare 20+ years ago out of Colorado....about as white as this.....

Some guy from England contacted me wanting to buy it.......said he had been looking for YEARS for one like it.....

Gretsch made lots of larger size kits in WMP,but hardly any 20,12,14's for some odd reason.......

Great score on your part!
