From vintagemore2000

from your pics it does look like a S/S, did you only get the shell? it is most certainly a brass model with the crimped snare beds, that is what it's called not rolled over. a transbadge/ brass model = big dollars. look at the pic of my 20's ludwig brass model same snare beds as yours, crimped!!

Thanks for the picture of your 1920's brass snare. WOW!

Mikey777 has confirmed that my snare is a real S/S Transition badge shell. Now I have to decide whether to try to find/buy all of the parts or what? Decisions, decisions!!!

Barry, I would re build it and make it complete. The lugs and rims are the easy things to fine but the strainers will be the hard parts to fine...Mikey

OK Mike. Please keep me in mind if some nice parts surface that I could use to rebuild the snare. Thanks...

Your best bet may be to create a stored search on Feebay and have it email you when matching auctions are posted.

You might have to buy a complete snare - not brass shell - to get the hardware you need.

Good idea tubelugs. Thank you. If anyone comes across something like that please send me a PM.

Cheers..

One advantage for you is that the SS mechanism was used for several years. I think I may have parts of them laying around. But that shell is definitely worth finding the parts for it. The idea of finding a SS snare that is pitted with Ludalloy or something is a great idea. After around '70 they changed to a larger SS mechanism.

Thanks Pounder, I appreciate if you would look around and see what you have.
