I got this with a kit today, and I haven't seen one before. The base looks similar to hercules stands, is that what it is?

Thanks for the speedy response! Any idea on the age/model?
Cool! The Slingerland "Relaxon" throne No. 839. Pictured in my 71, 73 and 77-78 catalogs. May have been introduced a bit earlier if someone out there has the 69 catalog! The 1971 catalog shows it for a whopping $39.75! Sit down and relax your tush!!
Awesome, thank you! It is actually pretty comfortable, but mostly it just looks cool.
Definitely one of the most comfortable thrones at the time. Enjoy!
That is a very nice specimen of a Slingerland throne. I used one for years, and it was very comfortable. Here's another classic sample that someone left in a doctor's office.
My wife saw your stool sample picture and laughed her butt of. She said, "Only a drummer would think of something like that!". Thanks for the good laugh.
That blue sparkle Ludwig kit that you have for sale on Chicago CL looks SWEET! Great price too. With the hardware and this sexy throne someone is gonna get a heck of a deal!
