One of the "on-going" problems with Craigslists deals is that Craigslists attempts to "scare" people into ONLY dealing locally. And they succeed in doing that with a LOT of people. That might be PART of the reason this guy backed out on a "out-of-state" deal. He got a "local" offer that was less of a hassle and obviously more of a sure thing (from his point of view).IMO, Craigslist is WRONG for "scaring" people like they do. There are several "secure" ways of doing business "long distance," even for "part-time" sellers, and Craigslist ought to recognize that. Of course, it's not anything like eBay as Craigslist doesn't get a "cut" out of the sales. They warn about the dangers/possibilities of getting "scammed" with non-local deals but don't seem to concerned about what kind of "crazy" might show up at your door if you've listed something with them and have someone coming to take a look. I'm more concerned about that than I am getting scammed....Just my two abe's...Bill

ebay classifieds also "scares" people to deal in person. which in general i agree with. you never know who's gonna scam you or take your info.

thankfully i've never had a bad sale.

for me this year has been pretty good for selling out of state, so i gotta believe people are not always afraid to deal with someone out of state.

since i started posting in a few other places i get alot of interest in stuff. sure i get some "tire kickers" but many call me and don't tell me their out of state til the end. but they feel better talking to me which i don't mind.

Mikey, I've done the same with "long distance" CL deals as well, and members on this forum have been a big help (well, quite frankly the deals wouldn't have happened without them!)! And, it is appreciated! I'm also more-than-willing to help other members out in the same way.

The "neural" meeting site is a good idea, too. I've run into several CL sellers that won't do it any other way. In fact, my wife just made a deal last week in Wichita, KS on a "new" (to us) high-chair for our grand-daughter. The lady selling it had us meet in the parking lot of... a police station! Actually, in the part of town she was in, that was a good idea!
