I owned, then sold, a pre-serial # hollywood kit at the chicago show last year to Sven from Hellstone Music. I really wish I could remember the details but it was very early 60's. It had Nickel hardware and the tom holder had that little black block of wood under the toms. I want to say even 1960 but don't remember. No transition badge, though. 62 perhaps? Dave Z

i remember those. they were gold sparkle right? seems like they were 60 models. i did have a pic of those on one of my computers. seems like you scored them from a pawn shop, right?

It always amazes me how expensive drumsets just get forgotten about.

They end up in old barns/wet basements ...whatever...

I guess I was thinking that Luddy didn't do a double tom kit till 66,as isn't that when they came out with the more adjustable aluminum one?

That earlier one is FUNKY!

I'm wondering how good a spread I'll get out of two 12" toms? One high, one low and rock & roll I guess.

you'll be might surprised at how much tone difference you can get with the two. howie(leedybdp) and i have discussed this before. he owned a dual 12 kit or two in his time. they tune up nicely.

late 65, they switched to the tom mount that blair mentioned. they had two 12s on them for a short while and then went 12/13. here is a pic of the next mount...

i'm still unsure of that bass mount on the tom though. it should be aluminum and looks a little beefier than that one. that might be what blair is talking about actually....
