I have a vintage 1963 Ludwig Hollywood set for sale. Finish is the silver pearl. Set contains 22"bass, 2x 12" toms, 16" floor tom and snare.

Condition: 6/10

Set is good condition considering age. Shells and the finish are in good shape just in need of some cleaning. Toms are painted white inside as was Ludwig's custom. Date stamps on shells indicate 1963. Also feature keystone badges without serial nos. (these predate serial nos) Bass drum has a painted black edge which is chipped up. Also someone wrote their name in marker on the inside of the shell. Share is plated metal and shows some oxidation. The snares are a little bent up and one has pulled out of the holder but they are functional. Hardware shows some oxidation but almost no rust. Original hardware is mostly present. Exception: I am missing the bottom hoops and lugs for the 12" toms. I have them but they are presently misplaced and can not be included here. I will pass them along later when and if I come across them.

I have a number of additional pics I can send along if there is further interest - including some of the dings. Looking for $600. Local buyers only - I'm not going to ship these. I am based in Baltimore and am looking for a mid-atlantic buyer. I am willing to drive a little to complete the sale.

In 63,I don't think Ludwig offered a double tom kit yet.......first one was 1966 I think.

Also,I am seeing a "L" cymbal mount in the first pic,and what looks like a Japanese double tom mount added to the top of the BD..........

So,you have extra holes,missing the hard to find COB rims,drums need a complete detailing/new heads......that all adds up.........

I have a 16" COB rim,claws/rods/maybe even a BD hoop yet.....

The finish is Sky Blue Pearl too.........

I was thinking '64 was the first Hollywood, but now I think it may have been 62 or 63 (note the red baseball bat mufflers in the photos). It had a clip mount holder originally, and it was originally with 2 12s, though I had one with 2 13's that was a '64.

I owned, then sold, a pre-serial # hollywood kit at the chicago show last year to Sven from Hellstone Music. I really wish I could remember the details but it was very early 60's. It had Nickel hardware and the tom holder had that little black block of wood under the toms. I want to say even 1960 but don't remember. No transition badge, though. 62 perhaps?

well according to cat 62 this is correct including mounts it just in need of full restoration and lot of work good luck who ever buys them

the hollywood kits with the 2 12's were issued in the early 60's. i have seen a couple of transition badge hollywood kits as well. they indeed used clip mounts with a wood block seperator. they were made this way through mid 65. ive got a march 65 hollywood kit that is also in sky blue pearl. i cannot see that tom mount good enough to comment on it. great kit!

Blair, The included supra is what made me pull the trigger. I can rework the bearing edges on the drums back into shape and the rest is a pretty straight-forward resto job. I'm looking forward to getting these back into playing shape.

I left a post here right away and a PM has been sent. As soon as this can be worked out, I'll get to work on putting them right. It's a kit worth saving.
