Ludwig Acro 6 1/2 10 lugs opinion Last viewed: 11 hours ago

Hi Folks,

A friend of mine is selling this snare and sent me pics. It's a 1972 Acro that's 6 1/2 by 14. It has ten lugs. I've never seen one but he advises they made approx 200 of them possibly for the NYC Board of Ed.( inside the shell in black marker it says property of NYC board of ed.) It is in good condition with minimal pitting. Anyone ever heard of these before? It's out of my price range (800-1000!!) Just wondering if this would be collectible and what type of price it would command in todays market. I have a standard acro and love it but for the extra depth the price seems a little steep.

as always many thanks for any input!!

vince PS I've attached pics

Those were especially made for NYC school board. I forgot how many were made. Some other folks here have specific knowledge on those and sure they will weigh in. I have a later supraphonic chrome version like that but not a NYC school board. I think they are somewhat a rare.

He's asking way too much IMO. You can buy 8 lug Acros for $100+/-

Your friend's price is pretty much what they go for. Great drums. Joeyboom's KS badge is a total killer snare. I want one. I made a fake one last week--very nice, but not the real deal.....marko
