PRICE CHECK:1971 14x14 LUDWIG SUPER CLASSIC OYSTER BLUE BOWLING BALL FLOOR TOM Last viewed: 3 minutes ago

Hi,

I will be listing this on eBay on Sunday but first I need help pricing on an opening bid and BIN for this April 14, 1971 14x14 LUDWIG SUPER CLASSIC OYSTER BLUE BOWLING BALL FLOOR TOM...and...what's the official name of this finish. There are no extra holes, no mods, the chrome is good with no pitting or rust, the finish (though ugly as homemade soap) is very clean, the clear interior is clean...the bottom rim and 8 tension rods are after market.

As always feel free to contact me at: mike@curottodrums.com or 650-595-2022 noon to 8:00 pm PST.

Thanks in advance.

Prior to the switchover, it was known as Oyster Blue Pearl. After the switch, it ran under the moniker of Oyster Blue No. 8024 and then finally No. 102 Oyster Blue ... then it was no more.

Ya know Mike...

I think I would let that one have an auction. Start it Sunday afternoon and put a reserve on it. That's never been my favorite wrap either, but you know somebody out there either wants to add a 14 to their 16 or finish that smaller kit.

A quick check on eBay shows one similar (I didn't check the condition) went for over $600.00. A Sky Blue Pearl (think it was) went over $900.00.

Anyway, there's recent price ranges.

What did you get for it? Thanks.

Plexi - How much $ do you make a week? What was your profit off your last drum sale?

Get it?

It's Just considered more than a little rude to ask such questions in a public, social setting. If you must know, show Mike a little respect and at least ask him privately. Where if he chooses to answer, at least he won't be putting his income information out there in a public forum. Your mom or dad should have put that lesson on your tapes.

Oh, and along the same lines, just a heads-up, never-ever ask a woman her age! Yikes!!!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

So you're now part of the forum police? I think Mike should answer that question, not you. I don't think it's your place to tell someone their being rude.....that should be done in private.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

I completely agree! We're talking vintage drums here, not how much someone makes. I just don't see anything wrong with asking what a drum sold for on this forum. It would certainly help all of us to price our drums when we go to sell them. As always, let's keep things civil here!

BBK and idrum4fun!...

You guys are right on here... there is NO PROBLEM with inquiring as to what an item sold for on this forum, as ultimately, it is at the seller's discretion to either provide that information, or not, be it privately or in public. I think Purdie Shuffle just got a tad overzealous in his capacity as a member of our fine vintage community. No harm done as I know there was none intended! And with that... carry on men!
