By a Slingerland Phantom... best haunting ever lol.
Got me a new toy the other day in the mail. One of my holy grail kits. A Slingerland Phantom. So excited I just had to share some pics.
With this kit off my holy grail list I am left with 2 more items. A matching snare for this kit (darn didn't come with one) and a wooden Slingerland Super Sound King. Wish me luck... although at only 24 I think I have some time left to look.

They exist, had to be special ordered. There was a thread awhile back I started looking for a pic. Someones friend had one should be on here somewhere

I don't see a lot of love for vintage Slingy's and I've never understood why. Out of the big four: Ludwig, Rogers, Gretsch & Slingerland, Slingy's (the, Rodney Dangerfield, I don't get no respect of the drum world,) get no respect in the market place. You put a 63' Slingy kit next to a 63' Ludwig or Rogers kit and the slingy's will be half the price of the others. I don't get it.
It's great for Slingerland lovers because they can shop till they drop. But I've never quite understood why such great drums have never really gotten the respect they deserve in the market place. A curiosity to me.

Dunno why the get less love than the others. All I know is anyone who has heard any of my Slingerlands have absolutely loved them. From sound guys to other drummers, miced or unmiced great sounding drums.
Wow, What a rare set to come by.I have only seen a few of these sets like 2 in 30+ years both had the matching snare.It's my understanding that Slingerland only made these sets for just a few years in the mid 70's...Also not many were sold Ludwig seem to have the market on them.....Mikey

Well if you ever happen to run into another with a snare let me know. I would LOVE to get a matching snare.
