I did and am glad I did! I have a cool looking and great sounding, players kit made from marching drums that no one wanted (with the exception of the 12" mounted tom). The best part is that I can play them and worry about hurting them; not that I would though. It was a fun project. Check 'em out. http://vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=17218
Wow, man! You pretty much nailed it! I'm planning the exact same setup, except I'm going with a 26" marching bass drum, although with less depth. I'm watching what's advertised as an 11"x26" bass on eBay right now. I really like the idea of having the diameter with a much shorter depth. It'd be really easy to throw in the backseat of even a small car.
Otherwise, I'm keeping those same dimensions... 12"x15" "floor tom" from a converted marching snare shell, and I'm seeking a 12" Club Date-style tom.
My Downbeat snare will round out the set.
Gonna wrap the toms and bass in Champagne Sparkle (Bermuda Sand from Precision Drum Co) and have a SWEET little gigging setup.
I'm betting you love those as much as I plan to love mine! :)
Edit: Oh yeah... I LOVE that little floor tom! :D
