I need some help. I have a vintage Slingerland Marching (Field) Snare Drum that appears to be from 1928 to 1947 according to The Vintage Drum Guide badge chart. There is no serial number on the badge, which is a brass cloud with black lettering. It is dark mahogany/maple stained with light maple hoops and has an early American looking decal (an eagle holding a flag) on it. The strange thing (that I have not seen on any other Slingerland drum) is that the tension rods go from the batter head claws to the snare side claws direct and don't even have ANY guides in the drum. All of the other drums like this that I have seen have some sort of guide in the middle of the drum. It needs a new throw off and a new snare side hoop. Can anybody tell me anything more about this drum?

Thanks Steveo!!! It appears to be a 1940 #574 "Legion Heir" Parade Drum. It listed for $18.50 without the $1.50 Center Supports.

OK, here it is......
...it needs a throw off and a snare side hoop. Any ideas??
My neck.....CryBaby
You think the hoop is repairable, maybe?
Cool marcher, man.
I am not sure if the hoop is repairable or not. My Dad and I are going to try. Otherwise, I am going to try and find a "donor" drum.
Nice snare Hal, cool decal,
WW2 patriotism I guess.
Okay, I can see the strainer has gone to god, but what is wrong with the
bottom hoop? Can't see anything in the pics, maybe my eyes? too many beers?
Too few beers?........... yep, that must be it. I'll go grab another. :D
Cheers Stevo

The bottom hoop is cracked and broken on the snare butt side. You can't see it because the damage is under the claw...holding it together!
Shoot us a pic, man......
That's part of what we do here.... help in restorations and repairs.
Lots of help here....
