to be fair the experts he spoke to may not have been drum experts - probably experts in cattle by-product production I'd guess

My first thought when I saw it was, not only is it a mish-mash of different parts, but also none of those parts do I have a clue what they are. I wish he would have included a closeup of the "Slingerland Custom Built Drums" badge - I have to admit morbid curiosity there... wouldn't that be key to its enormous value? (along with the heartfelt testimonial by N. Peart, of course)
sounds like something I'd fall for LOL Gary

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
I made an offer we'll see if I get a reply
My goodness! That reminds me of a friend who wanted to make a Bombo leguero out of a vistalite shell I gave him back when I used to live in Chile. A bombo leguero is a very traditional folklore drum. Kinda like what the native indians use for ceremonies and stuff. He was so crazy about the idea but I prevent him from actually perpetrating the aberration. Like the drum that generated this thread here. They idea was so wrong…
Here's a pic of the kind of drum my friend wanted to build out of a vistalite shell:
