Year span of Rogers Fullerton era drums?

Loading...

SO- based on the information I provided, that they are a Fullerton Holiday- 1969 is most likely the year they were built because the next year Holiday became Powertone....

ALSO- I know a guy who used to work for CBS around 1969 and he said theres a possibility that even tho the move to Fullerton was in '69- the actual drums could have been built earlier like '68.

So...

Does this information add up???

Absolutely it adds up. They just built drums. They did not care about tags or serial numbers. They didnt even mind crossing out LUXOR with a sharpie and writing in POWERTONE with an ink pen. You have a very nice set of drums, enjoy them. All that freakish worry over tags, or build location or the hear and there of ohio and california... doesnt really mean anything. Let it go. Love the drums.

Awesome- that's what I figured, I just wanted the confirmation that the kit was just as good as one from 64-68. Thanks man.

Your first statement is correct, but the second is not. If drums were built in Ohio, they had Ohio tags in them. The Fullerton tags did not even exist until after the move to Ca.

What you are looking at is a set of early Fullerton-built drums, virtually the same as the last Ohio-built drums. Except for the tags.

One more thing: the 64-68 drums are not all the same. The earlier Ohio drums had flat grey paint, heavier lugs etc. A short time after CBS took over in 66, things started to change: speckled paint, lighter hardware etc.

And the sage words of the Ploughman are correct: This all is really splitting hairs - the drums are all good.

From Mike T

also the 1969 Holiday models had the machined collets and the machined floor tom brackets some kits were even half Holiday and half powertone which by all means were the same ... but I have only seen 69 holidays after that they were all Powertone...

My kick drum is a Dayton and toms are Fullerton. From what I've been told and read the toms could very well have been made in Dayton and then shipped to Fullerton with those tags put on them.
