Yard Sale find. Ludwig Mod Orange Club Date kit Last viewed: 11 hours ago
Gotta love yard sales.
Now that you got that Mod Orange kit, you can hang onto it and name your price and set the market in whatever way you see fit. In the meantime, hang onto the drums and enjoy them and play them all the time. Win/Win

Wow! Blue/Olive Club Dates. Don't see those too often. In Mod Orange to boot.
Funny thing. I notice that people sometimes list Mod Orange Ludwig drums as being either 1968, 69, 70, or 71. When looking at the original Ludwig color charts for those years, it looks like the only year that Mod Orange was offered was in 1971. Am I wrong here?
I list my set as a 1971 because the mounted tom has a date stamp on the inside that says January 5, 1971. The other drums do not have date stamps, but the serial numbers on the badges range in date from very late 1969-71. Dating the set would probably be best by dating it from the latest serial number, or date stamp shown. Is this correct?
How many Jazzers were playing kits in Mod Orange? Not too many,I think.
Not refined enough.............A color those uncouth Rock and Rollers play.

Pretty sure mod orange club dates are even more scarce than classics.Nice score.Did you get the cymbals and the Acrolite with the kit also?Gotta love yard sales.Good luck.

I got the original acrolite snare with the set. I found the correct 19" Ludwig cymbal about a week later only a few towns away. I should have the right cowbell mount by Monday. All I need is the correct cowbell, and this thing will look like the one in the 71 Ludwig brochure that I have a copy of.
This is only my second resto project, but this one was easy. Not much needed but a cleaning and finding the parts that I mentioned. If only I had the right hi-hat rig, Ludwig hi-hats (if there is such a thing) and throne.
My last resto was a 73 Rogers 5 piece in original Spanish Gold. Of course, this Ludwig is MUCH nicer.
Even considering the modifications, I think you did great. Congrats on a sweet acquisition. Looking forward to more pics.
