I may have a re-wrap project.
Does anyone know if Pink Glass Glitter is close to Champagne Sparkle? also wondering if anyone has ever reversed a wrap, flipped it over to do a re-wrap?

kelly - not to my eyes. Two entirely different shades of color. I'm not a big fan of pink, but I must say, that pink glass does look classy.

Nope. Champagne sparkle, even though often referred to as "Pink Champagne," is more of a copper/silver color, hence the reason it's also called "desert sand" by some. The pink glass glitters I've seen are actually... pink!
Right now, champagne sparkle is hard to come by and when you do find it, it's pretty expensive...
As for flipping, I've done it on inlay strips for BDs but not on drums...

I had a pink glass glitter kit and it is far from the champagne wrap. Wish I still had it.
Thanks for the input and help. As you say John, they really are different shades.
Pink glass glitter is definitely more pink. You're right billnvick, it has a more silvery copper look to it.
Lucky, what kit did you have in Champagne?
Here's the wrap in question. I picked up a Gretsch RB kit today (details in another thread). The kit had been professionally painted white in an auto body shop about 20 years ago, directly over the champagne sparkle wrap. There are three coats of paint...primer, under-coat and top-coat. You can see the white paint in the photo. Taking the paint off would be one helluva job.
After removing the wrap and cleaning up, the under side is prisitne! Like the day it was put on in the 60's..Cool1
I think I can get away with flipping it over and putting the white side down on the tom, floor tom and bass or maybe not because after painting the kit white, the owner then put swivo-matic tom mounts on the bass and rack tom. I guess I'll be looking for new wrap... Any ideas?

kelly - if all the wrap looks as good as the piece you're showing us, I say go for it! That wrap looks pristine/new. It's even pre-drilled! lol
John
Purdie, this wrap is gorgeous and like new. Pure vintage Champagne sparkle!!
Just don't know what to do with the swivo-matic holes??
k
Don't alter it! As long as it was added way back when, it's part of the kit. My Oaklawn Camco kit has swivo hardware that was added when the drums were new. It looks great and the Rogers swivo stuff actually works. Win/win.
Don't fill or re-drill. Use the swivo mounts and hardware. It actually adds a very classy look to the drums and it will make your set unique. I say it's a good thing.
John
Thx John,
Sure solves the wrap problem! So just flip the wrap over and re-mount the hardware. Do you have a pic of the Camco with swivo mounts? Would love to see that...
