Would you guys do this trade...Slingerland for Leedy?

Loading...

Hi Friends...wanted to throw a potential trade deal out to you guys to see what you think. Would you trade a 1957 Slingerland Deluxe Krupa 1-N kit (22/16/13 w/matching Super Krupa snare) for a 1949 Leedy kit (26/16/13 w/1950 Ludwig & Ludwig snare in same finish)?

I owned the Leedy kit at one point and sold it to a buddy of mine when I bought my house. I was thinking of offering him my Slingy as a trade to get it back. I love my Slingy kit, but I most certainly miss my Leedy kit. Both kits are in similar (and great), un-molested shape and I also have 2 other kits with 22" bass drums.

Thoughts?

I would! ..wouldn't even have trader's remorse. I have a '49 Leedy bass drum, 22", paired with a '41 Ludwig and Ludwig snare drum. Love 'em to the moon and back! To have a full kit of the Leedy's like that.. wow!

Boy, that is a tough one. 26" bass drum would be awesome, I think, I never had one. Right now I would would do the trade but I certainly have not put much thought into it either. Sorry, Im no help.

Thank you!

since I have owned both brands and sizes , I can tell you the 26" leedy bass drum will knock you out, Do the trade if possible, But you'll need to like big bass drums?

I don't even know if he will go for it, but I do know that he is afraid to gig the Leedy at all...but I would take it out every now and again for local gigs. I think I miss the 26" bass drum most of all...and that 1950 L&L snare was the best snare I ever heard! Let's see what others have to say.

You answered your own question.

You miss the bass drum, you would be willing to gig with the Leedy kit, and the snare was the best you ever heard.

Thanks, Fellas. I knew the answer, but had to hear it from my VDF bros. I'll let you know if it happens or not.

Stef...good to hear from you. How's life in Belgium? I miss it terribly. I'm hoping to get back in a couple of years. Life gets in the way of touring when you don't do it for a living, but life is great!
