Where do you position your snare strainers? Last viewed: 5 hours ago
It's interesting that there are so many different answers and I'm the odd man out with 12 and 6. :D
Think about this from a manufacture's perspective and where they placed their badge. Do you think they made a conscience decision to place the their badge where it would be easily seen based on the setup location of the strainer?

Same as thornbeck, Butt at midnight, strainer at 6. Made sense the first time I set it up and I haven't had cause to change it.
Strainer at 6 and butt at 12. Better snare response when playing near rim. When I was a kid I was taught 9 and 3. I think that relates to how you would have done it while wearing a parade drum.
Strainer at 8, butt at 2. I do that for ergonomic reasons (so I can operate the strainer with my weak hand and to keep the mechanisms away from my leg), but it works out well that the badge is at 10 with Slingerland TDRs.
Kit supplied for a jam, so the stand gets moved around when others play it, but you get the idea.
