Ive been singing most of my life. I use piano and guitar to write songs. I don't play either fluently however. Play harmonica. Played trombone for many years, even in a Jazz ensemble in my teens. Mess around with a few other instruments from time to time.

I use guitar and piano to write my own music but im not great at either.

Im mostly just a rhythm player on guitar and I guess you could think of me the same on the piano (mostly chords). But hey, it gets the framework done. I got into mandolin and autoharp for a while too but I havent put much time into them....yet.

Drums will always be my instrument by a long shot :D Keep on Pl

Started with guitar, moved to bass and ended up on drums because everyone wanted to play guitar. Someone had to do the drums and there you have it. Lost the other two long ago, but have contemplated trying bass again in the not too distant future to cut down on the lugging as I age. guitar3

However, lugging an amp might not be a great idea either.

Aside from the drums, I play the vibraphone, and the piano.

I started playing drums first, and then studied the other percussion instruments, ending up earning a degree in percussion and another in music education.

I thought I was going to be a rock star lol :), but I found myself with a career as a public school music teacher and percussion instructor.

Not sure if we're allowed to link to bandcamp....these are tunes by a singer/songwriter friend who came over last winter and we did these tunes in the bedroom. Aside from rhythm guitar, lead/female vocals, and the lead guitar on "As I Please", it's all me. Bass, keys, lead guitar, harmonies, cut-and-paste mellotron samples, drums of course...done during my MIJ-only phase....so all drums on these recordings are MIJ.

I sing. And now, reading all your posts here, I really gotta learn the guitar. It's a shame.

I don't play anything else but when I was 24-26 did a performing arts, popular music diploma where we had to play basic keyboards as part of the course. I do actually wish I'd kept it up it didn't do my drumming any harm it actually can help with co-ordination of the hands.

I love the jazz era

Sounds like there are quite a few of us who dabble or started off on other instruments...cool! A lot of rhythm guitar players, like myself, and piano players...right on. That's one instrument I wish I would have learned...at least piano chords. Guess it's never too late! Anywho...just wanted to throw this thread out there for fun. Thanks for replying, Fellas.
