What is this massively old snare drum? Last viewed: 7 hours ago

Loading...

I'm guessing this is really early 20th century. The badge is missing. You can see where it was. Not quite enough there to read what it was.

I went through the gallery and didn't see anything remotely similar.

Anyway, does anyone have a clue what this old fella is?

thanks

Maybe Duplex?Mike Curotto

That was my first thought as well. Looks similar to other Duplex drums.

I did some more digging and found a George B. Stone and Sons snare that looks like this drum and has the badge on the top rim where this drum has a spot where the badge used to be.

Either way it's a cool old drum, and I think I'm going to make it mine.

Lugs are Duplex. Going by the shape of the missing badge, your drum might have been an early 1900s build for Gretsch like this one:

Great Snare,

How are things in Aberdeen? Hot, dry nothing but MIJ in Spokane. Hoping for rain and a Slingerland to show.

Creighton

Nothing special here but I like them.

Pearl Masters Custom?

My first guess was Dresdner or other German trommel, but Duplex it is.
