Vintage 5 Piece Chrome Kit Last viewed: 21 hours ago

Loading...

Hi, I'm a guitarist that came upon a Ludwig 5 piece kit at a yard sale. I bought it because it was cheap but the lady knew nothing about the kit and neither do I. It is a dull chrome finish and it has the Blue and Teal Ludwig Tags and each drum has a serial number.

1. Kick Drum 24" is 2246000

2. Tom 1 is 2245993

3. Tom 2 is 2245998

4. Tom 3 is 2224302

5. Tom 4 is 2245995

Can anyone tell me the value of this kit, drums only, no hardware,

That looks like Stainless steel by the pictures. But I'm not positive that Ludwig did a stainless steel wrap.

There are other guys on here that can definitely help you out.

Do you mind me asking what you paid?

Ludwig had stainless kits and also chrome over wood kits too. actually they also had a chrome over(usually white) vistalite kit as well.

the pic with the bass drum looks like it has wood interior? my eyes aren't the best in the world. if so, they would indeed be chrome over wood.

nice looking kit!

This is the dreaded aluminium wrap, secured by rivets at the seam! Hard to find in a good condition such as this.

Are you going to sell them?

Very nice, looks like you did good because it sounds like you didn't pay much if neither of you knew anything about them. I'm not sure on the value, what are the sizes, that will help out the real Ludwig experts. Looks like a bass drum and four floor toms, lol. Nice score whatever they are worth. Clean em up, set em up, play em, then post some pics for us.

Thank you!

I had a double bass kit from this year model kit it had two mounted toms tom and two floor toms, rivet city, chrome over steel wrap, these tubs weigh a ton. These rivet drums are the drums that almost put Ludwig out of business. Lifetime warranty= many replacements.

Definitely Chrome over wood. Rivets. Early 80's. It does look like 4 floor toms. Can you show us pics of the mounts on the drums ? Maybe the two smaller drums were mounted as toms with 2 floor toms. Are there 3 mounts on the toms or one Clip looking mount on any of them ?

I'm betting that those are all toms. I don't see any floor legs on any of them. Maybe 13,14,15 and 16?
