Thinking of going vintage Ludwig... Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

I have a set of blue sparkle Luddies, as well as my dad's 1966 Gretsch.

I've grown up always playing "vintage" drums. (what do new drums

sound like?) I'm looking for a nice set of Tama Artstars.

I love my vintage stuff but I like the ease of set up with a modern kit. When I gig I am usually comming home from my day job and rushing off to the gig. With the memory locks on my modern kit it makes set up a breeze!!!! Every once in a while I will gig a vintage kit.

I can see both sides of the coin here...

The one plus for the modern kits is the hardware. It probably doesn't hurt to have both modern and vintage drums as an option...just be sure the modern kit is a tasteful one. There are certain modern brands I'd never touch. Again, all personal taste...it's just that my taste is always correct. Laughing H

I gig Rogers and Slingerland kits. A shaft collar on the tom mounts, and legs, and viola! Memory locks! BTW, Rogers invented Memori-locks. Add the L-arms for ides, so I've lost two stands, {tom and cymbal} outta my bags. Makes for pretty quick setup.......

well well it looks to me like another convert, i always have played VINTAGE DRUMS ,last sun at eve mass with the contemporary choir i brought my 64/63 luddys downbeat with downbeat snare (actually i left the floor tom) the music minister said how warm and great sounding my drums and cymbals are, i used brushes she wants to have me bring them again.... nothing compares

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Awesome! I just picked a set of 13/16/24 WMP Slingerlands. They had a rail mount removed, and Set-)-Matic added, two cymbal mounts on the bass. Yours is really nice. I'll be looking forward to the final touches on mine after seeing them. It's my wife's fault. She showed them to me......
