Any clue why the Bass Drum would not originally have had legs?

From thornbeck

How does someone just get Stanton to "pop" over to one's house? Mind Blowi I'm guessing there was some vintage drum candy involved. So cool.To the OP, that's a great looking kit. Rare finish and if it's late 70's then a rare configuration too. Hold on to this one.-Tim

Tim,

I found him online..and we kept in touch..

He also hooked me up 3 summers ago to see him at the Electric electricit Forest 4 day hippie fest around 50 miles away....

We thought he hooked us up for just 1 night to see him...but the tix were good for 3 days!..We hadn't planned on staying 3 days...so had to split that night at around 3 AM.......$60 per day were the tix...

Got to hang out for 1/2 hour afterwards..while he offered us beers!,Nice guy!

OK..back to regular programming!

Here are the Toms. This set is incredibly clean!!! It had to be stored in cases for most of its life.

It's a great looking set.. real clean as you say, but the 12x10 is a mystery, as is the Bd spur question.. as far as I can see 12X10 did not appear till much later with the Spirit range.. those spurs fitted seem to be much later and may have replaced some other spur set.. ?

Cheers

I've heard that White Tiger was the least popular of the tiger finishes and was a slow seller. A while back something came up that toward the end of the Niles factory a slew of White Tiger material was "discovered" and then disappeared. The result has been that there are some fake "vintage" White tiger kits that are actually re-wraps. Like all rumors this needs some addition verification. Hope you got a genuine article.

Great thread - nice drums! I like that finish. The only time I've seen anything like it in person is the finish that's on my Star bongo....it's RTP and the finish is applied vertical...but it's pretty much identical.

I am convinced that they are the real deal, as I have two other Slingerland kits. Everyhing from the hardware, hoops, rims and badges are the same. Even the stamp is identical. Solid drums and they sound great.
