Slingerland White Tiger Pearl Question Last viewed: 10 seconds ago

Hey,

I just picked up a Slingerland White Tiger Pearl kit and just can't seem to figure out what year it is from. It is a 20/12/14. The serial #'s look like it is late 70's, but the odd things are the shells are all virgin, the depth of the 12" Tom is 10" and the Bass drum has modern legs with no signs of redrills. Also, there are no dates inside, just the "P" stamp. Rims, lugs and hoops all are correct. Any thoughts?

I had a set of those a few years back...

Galatic was in town, and was lucky enough to get Stanton to pop over to my house to check some gear out pre-show..

He sat down on the kit..and proceeded to tear it up!

Of course,he hooked us up for the show that night...and a friend I went with was a HUGE Zep freak,so when they played "When the levee breaks"...he about flipped out....

That particular set seemed like it about played itself......it was so effortless to play...for some reason...

Should have kept it...except...it had some extra holes....

Rare finish! Enjoy...

post the serial numbers or look here for the born on date. Virgin bass drums are not unusual for Slingerland. also the spurs are not original they are after market. http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/drcjw/article_2_serial_numbers_page3.html

How does someone just get Stanton to "pop" over to one's house? Mind Blowi I'm guessing there was some vintage drum candy involved. So cool.

To the OP, that's a great looking kit. Rare finish and if it's late 70's then a rare configuration too. Hold on to this one.

Here is the badge. I figured that the legs were added later, but with no redrills, I am not sure how.

It is a good day when Stanton just stops by and plays your kit.

Nice!

Bass drum tension rods and Silver/Black Niles badge eliminate pre-1970. Rob Cook's "Slingerland Book" indicates White Tiger Pearl was offered from "1973 to 1977", but I don't know how much faith I'd put into that as fact. I've seen many discrepancies with information in this book.
