Slingerland 15" Snare Help Last viewed: 9 hours ago

That is indeed a Concert King. I've got the 15 X 8 model. Whack that hard enough and the folks dancing in the front of the band get pushed back about a foot... :)

You bet... Now, back in the evil early 80's I picked this up at a yard sale at the San Luis Obispo High School or their Community College. Don't remember which. It was thrashed. So, since it was the evil eighties, I was evil and had it recovered in a non Slingerland wrap (I think anyway. I've never seen another Concert King other than a Duco or Walnut finish. This was the walnut finish.) Anyhoo, here it is. And bro lemme tell ya, this thing has a report like a shotgun. Three ply I guess, with re-rings.

I do remember I paid five bucks for it, or what remained of it at least... Someday I'll find the correct bottom hoop.

I used it primarily when playing rock, with the Camco kit. You can see more pix of it on my web page. Just click the 'fishwaltz' in my sig.

Thanks for the info. Not sure what I'm going to do with her yet. I'm more of a 70s Slingy guy.

I like 'em old ...at least when it comes to drums. ;)

Seriously, if you ever want to find a loving home for that drum, I'd be interested. I seem to have a soft spot for 1950s Slingerlands. My kit's from roughly 1956 and I've got a marching snare from 1953-54. Add a concert drum and I've got a 1950s Slingy for every occasion. ;)

X2. I have that same drum (a pre-serial) and it sounds amazing, 8 X 15.
