Well, they cleaned up pretty darn good. They had Evans Hydraulics on the tom batter's which of course had to go. I had a couple new 12" Ambassadors for that tom and The reso 16" was a original Rogers so I swithed it to the batter and had another good used Ambassador for the reso.

I need a Ambassador for the batter of the 13". May run out and get one but I am going to give them a trial spin on the gig tonight as a 4 piece. They sound really good. Been playing them this morning. I need to fix the wrap on the seam on the 16" but want to find the correct glue. Like some others and me personally have found out, you have to be really careful with crazy glue.

I have already had one horror experience with it. I tried Elmers white glue which has worked for me in the past but not on these. I need a good clear drying epoxy I guess, but just going to wait and make sure what to use. I need to find a plastic cap for the tom mount top. That hole is driveing me crazy. I am sure I can find something. I have the tom mount turned the correct way now Ploughman. DOH It was turned around when I got them. This is my first experience playing Rogers. They are a little different, but sound like a cross between my vintage Slingerlands and modern Gretsch. To me anyway. That's still good.

Tim they look great. A friend picked up a Big R kit and had the same wrap edge seperation. When I asked it was suggested water based contact cement was the best glue for the job. Enjoy~!

You are going to like it.

The XP8 pic in Silver Metallic that I posted above was a set I almost did not buy. The pics in the ad looked good. The drums in person, after a 150 mile drive, looked like hell. Had it been across town, I would have walked out. The hardware however looked excellent under the crud, and there was a LOT of crud. The bass hoops were toast. There was a 2x2 triangular chip missing from the 12 at the seam. I spent a few hours with a 3" air polisher and white rubbing compound on the shells, soaked all the hardware in dawn for two days, and repaired the chip with a scrap of like color wrap. I think I used some carpet seam glue on that. They did come out very nice.

Yes Ploughman, yours look great. I will see about some of that water based contact glue. That makes sence to me. Ploughman, did these sets come with metal bass hoops? I have a solid black maple Keller hoop and a Ludwig hoop with silver sparkle inlay I could put on there. I wonder if the wood will sound better than the metal. The bass sounds good now but ??. I hate changeing hoops and heads out experimenting but I guess it must be done. I have a Aquarion on the Bass batter and a Remo reso on the front. They came with the drum and were new but they had them on the opposite sides. I was playing it and I thought, god this sounds terrible then I realized. With the Aquarion on the batter and a strip of felt on the reso it sounds pretty good now.
