Ringo Picture High Quality Scan?
Id rather not mention why I want the picture, but it has to do with the name Ringo and wanting a small tribute framed in my house...not anything to do with the actual Ringo...even though I like the actual Ringo a lot too.
Funny reading you guys argue over nothing that even has anything to do with the subject of this thread. I hope I can find a good quality scan of the picture to hang in my house. Thats all Im looking for. Printing the current file will do...but I just thought if someone had access to a bigger file...then that would be better.

Adam -- I checked mine -- it's 72 kb, so it's probably the same as yours.
I'm glad to see it for purely selfish reason. I am restoring one of those hi hats -- 1121? -- and I plan to sell it...I've done a lot or research for pics of it in use. I'll feel comfortable when I sell it as an 'early Ringo' or 'Ringo #1." Whatever was on the floor at Arbiter's Music! (where Ringo changed the Ludwig company forever, because he caught a glimpse of the pearl wrap!)
By the way, those are cool hi hats. Somewhat adjustable, not a lot, but a little bit, with a painted wood spacer used on the rod. Boy, those were the days. I think. I was ten.
Hey, here's a few notes from the hi-hat research. And not Premier (although that was in the early mix), but TRIXON!!! Boy, the world would be different if he'd bout a Trixon!
Book: With The Beatles - The historic photographs of Dezo Hoffman
p. 44 photo description " Recording "Easybeat" at the Playhouse, 23 June 1963: 'This was the first time Ringo used his famous Ludwig kit in public. There was only one mic for the drums.' " Photo shows a flat base hi hat with the strap attachment from the pedal to the pull rod. At first I thought the legs may be round, but the round legs belong to the Premier cymbal stand in front of it. The Premier hi hat did not have the 3 braces on the legs...
Beatles Gear book, Andy Bubiak, tells the story that around the end of April 1962, Ringo went to Ivor Arbiter's "Drum City" shop in search of black drums. He would have bought a Trixon kit, but there was no black in stock. Arbiter: "But I remember Ringo was looking at my desk, and on the desk I had a swatch of colors. We didn't talk about which brand at this point. Ringo said 'I like this color.' "
Hoy cow.
Ringo used an 1121 model Hi-Hat for a few months but by the end of 63 he had already switched to the 1123 model that he favored for the rest of his time in the Beatles. Not sure why this change took place but there are photos of Ringo with set #1 and an 1123 so this should have been prior to getting set #2 in Feb 1964 (which also had an 1123 included as well as two model 1400 cymbal stands).
Even the 1121 model Ringo used is a rarer version with rubber tipped legs. The more typical 1121 has legs that twist at the end and then have the round "button" feet resting on the floor. At some point just before the model was discontinued the button feet were dropped and the legs were straight with rubber tips on the end. This version of the stand is somewhat hard to find as it was only produced for a short while.
Even the 1123 "Ringo" hi-hat stand was only in production for a relatively short time before being replaced by the very common 1123-1 model. No doubt thousands of 1123's were produced but yet they don't pop up every day and this is why 1123's can sell for sizeable amounts of money.
Good info. I have two - one with the button feet, is in use pretty often. The other, with straight legs and rubber feet, is the one in restoration.
I tend to think of this as an 1121 'transitional' model.
Some vintage cars have weird things like that. It seems that as newer parts came online, they would start using them as soon as the old ones were gone.
I wonder if that's what happened here. I think the one with button feet would be more expensive to produce. So, when they're gone....
I hate the Beach Boys. Always have. But that's great you think they're the greatest cheese out there. Don't like Cher much either. Cher out-Beach Boys the Beach Boys.

There were NO other drummers used besided Ringo, unless you want to believe that nonsense Bernard Purdie is selling.Again, with zero proof.Steve B
Didn't Paul record the drum parts for "Back in the USSR" or is that a myth? I know Ringo and George were both pretty fed up with Paul during the White Album sessions. I thought I read that Paul recorded that drum part. I thought it was because Ringo wasn't playing it the way Paul wanted it.
Hope I'm not spreading a false rumor.
I love The Beatles VERY MUCH. I just might love The Beach Boys a fraction more. Ringo was a much more creative drummer than Dennis Wilson...and forgive me...even Hal Blaine to some degree. Was that creativity Ringo or Geoge Martin...or Paul? Don't know. Dennis Wilson was a better vocalist than Ringo. I think popular opinion would be more even (historically) between these two great bands if the Beach Boys wouldn't have pigeonholed themselves early on as a "surf" band. I love it, but a lot of people are turned off by it. IMO what makes both of these bands great is the song writing and the vocal performances. Overall musicianship goes to The Beatles. George Harrison was a great player. So is Brian Wilson.

Paul did play drums on a couple of songs when Ringo was not available. I think they were "Back in the USSR" and "Ballad of John & Yoko". Of course Paul wasn't an outside hire and also the reason he played these was because Ringo was out of town, not because Ringo wouldn't have been able to do the job.
Of course there is Andy White playing drums on some takes of "Love Me Do". In this instance George Martin contracted a studio drummer because he was expecting the band to show up with Pete Best and he didn't want to take any chances. Martin found out that Ringo was up to the task and there were no more studio drummers brought in.
Thanks for clarifying K.O. I too enjoy it when you drop your Beatles/Ringo knowledge on us.
