question for my WFL friends

Loading...

What year did they start painting the inside of the WFL drums white.?

Check out my ebay item. I dated this 48-52 based on the badge and one gentlemen mentioned that wfl didn't start painting the drums till 1960. Is this true?

Thanks

they did it on and off. ive got a 40's white badge elkhart indiana imperial lug tom that has factory white paint inside. all of my 48-52 wfl badge stuff has unfinished wood interiors. they went full board with the white paint in the early 60's up until the change to the clear maple interiors in the late 60's.

I have a 1957 WFL snare drum that is NOT painted on the inside. That's as much as I can help you. Hope you get more answers.

Ludwig and Ludwig after about 1934, and Leedy and Ludwig painted their interiors white. I wasn't aware WFL, which was a different company, painted their interiors.

I agree with Bun. I own a lot of WFL'S now they are 40's thru 50's and have owned many before this. But have never had any of them painted white interior's.

I emailed Steve Maxwell the vintage GURU from NY/Chicago . And just heard back. and Although rare, they did see some WFL drums from that era painted white on the interior but WFL officially went to white in the 60's.

Very Cool. Life before the internet:)
