The shell mounted tom holder could have been installed after the drums arrived from the factory. Then again, who are we to say that it could not have been installed at the Leedy factory per the buyer's request? The two tone controls could have also been part of the original order placed with the factory. Modifications like these must have also been commonplace for selling dealers to do for their customers.

I`m thinking your last sentence. Just about everybody does it.

You could just tell by looking at them that the cymbals are all good. One still has 80% of the film on it.

He`s got a Leedy 49 so far,...20. Who can say that ?

I`m 100% sure the Remo head did not exist in 49. The painted one`s were in.

OK folks appreciate all your help.Just wanted to say I may have been, no I was presumptive that these drums are perfectly original.May have had some things done to them I don't know I wasn't with them all that time and we all know things this old could have had a little of this and a little of that done over the years.Best thing is to see them live I know but this is the next best thing.Let me say I defer to you folks you know what is what. Thanks again.

The cymbal stamp in the middle is different from the others. The Avedis stays between the D and the N in Zildjian.

Fear not, the guy that "literally" wrote the book on these is a member here too. Your cymbals will be accurately dated soon.

I found that bracket. That flat bar is Leedy but I think it goes back to trap kits. It stands on (Chess pawn like) pegs.

Hello again and thanks for all the input we have learned a lot from you folks. My wife has a few old pics she scanned into the PC a number of years ago and I thought the group may appreciate them. Several from when they were purchased new when he first got them and a pic of him playing the xylophone and a pic of them set up at our other house about 31 years ago.

I will be adding a few more yet but past the pic limit on this post.

I took a picture of my tom and it fits the hole pattern and the plate of the OP's tom except it looks like it might of had 2 (top and bottom.)

Wbcgar can you measure the bass drum from inside of hoop to inside of hoop?

Just trying to get correct size.

Thanks for the pictures they are classic.

Also from what I can see it looks like it has the rail mount

In those pictures. The tom looks like a 13 in the picture, could you also measure that from inside the rim to rim. Haven't confirmed real sizes yet and that's important.

From the new picture with the drums stacked it looks like 20/13 /14 sn
